RC Crack code for GRE and GMAT

Reading comprehension is a crucial skill for both the GRE and GMAT. If your score Tanks, its most likely you royally messed up the RCs. Your Verbal score can go for a toss if you get stumped and meander and get lost on your way to crack those passages from divergent topics like Business, Science, Humanities, Social science, History, etc. Still, 100% correct answers in RC is possible.

Let’s dive into some effective strategies for tackling reading comprehension passages on both exams:

✅ Focus on Structure and Purpose: Rather than getting bogged down in details, read for the overall structure and purpose of the passage. Understand why the author has written each paragraph and how they connect.

✅ Synthesize the author’s argument rather than memorizing facts. Do not write down the main points (an absolute waste of time).

❎ Do not read the questions first. An absolute recipe for disaster.

✅ Approach the Passages Overall: Understand the main point of the passage before diving into the questions.

✅ Pay attention to the author’s tone and purpose.

✅ Attack the Questions: Read the question stem carefully. Identify what it’s asking (e.g., main idea, inference, tone).

✅ Refer back to the passage for relevant information. Verify before you go to the next question.

Pace Yourself: ⏰ Allocate time wisely. Don’t spend too long on any one passage or question. Both these exams penalize you heavily for leaving questions unmarked.

Note that GRE RC questions may ask you to select one correct answer or more in choosing all applicable options. Hence use the process of Elimination: Use the process of elimination to eliminate incorrect answer choices. This is especially helpful when you’re unsure about an answer. Narrow down your options by eliminating incorrect decisions. Also, remember that GMAT RC passages can be dense, so practice reading efficiently.

Use only Original GRE and GMAT Questions: Practice with high-quality GRE and GMAT questions to sharpen your skills and develop a consistent approach.

Remember, consistent practice and understanding the underlying structure of passages will improve your performance on both exams.

Good luck with your preparation!

🛑***DO NOT BUY stupid hearsays like read The Economist and The New Yorker or start reading the following books etc.. Wisdom showered by rookie trainers who have themselves never even attempted the test is of zero utility. Hence if you aren’t an avid reader don’t try to be one, else you will take more than a decade to complete the prep. 😮
